Dr. Michael Kirkpatrick, BVM&S

Dr. Michael Kirkpatrick received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the Royal School of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was born and raised in Germany and received his undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of San Diego.

His love for animals was instilled in him at a young age by his parents, who always set a good example of caring and being advocates for animals. Dr. Kirkpatrick feels as though veterinary medicine is the perfect situation that allows him to help animals and people alike.

His special interests in veterinary medicine include surgery, pain management, dentistry and dermatology. He is passionate about treating every pet as though it were his own, giving the best medical care possible by applying his training and knowledge in educating owners on preventative medicine.

Dr. Kirkpatrick is married with two young daughters and has a miniature Dachshund named Sami. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and likes traveling to different countries. He has a great passion for the outdoors, where he enjoys hiking, fishing and wildlife photography. Dr. Kirkpatrick is an avid sports fan and former college and professional basketball player who loves staying active.

Debbie Burnett, Office Manager

Debbie is one of the original team members of Jamacha Pet Vets and has been with JPV since the beginning. She grew up in San Diego and from a young age always remembers having had animals in her life. She currently has a dog, named Lily and a cat, named Latte.

Debbie enjoys working at Jamacha Pet Vets, as it gives her the opportunity to interact with pet owners and pets alike. She appreciates the family atmosphere that exists at JPV and enjoys her coworkers. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, the outdoors and spending time with her four adult children and daughter-in-law.

Angie Moya, Veterinary Assistant

Angie has been with Jamacha Pet Vets since the beginning. She graduated from the Veterinary Assistant program at Pima Medical Institute in 2011. Her plan is to become a Registered Veterinary Technician in the near future. From a young age she always knew wanted to work with animals. She enjoys interacting and working with clients and educating them about the health of their companions. She loves the clinic atmosphere and being part of the team.

Angie is married to Carlos, who is the most caring, loving and hardworking man she knows. They share their home in Mission Valley with Michi, a 4.5 year old, Miniature Schnauzer. When Angie is not working, she finds peace in the great outdoors, hiking, riding roller coasters and skydiving. Most importantly, she loves to spend time with her family and exploring what adventures life has to offer them.

Shandra Decker,
Registered Veterinary Technician

Shandra Decker is the newest team member to join Jamacha Pet Vets. She is a native to San Diego and has been in the animal field, working with a wide variety of species, for over 20 years. She completed the Animal Health Technology Program at Mesa College and has been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 2006. Her passions include feline medicine and behavior, nutrition, dentistry and complementary alternative medicine.

Shandra is married and shares her home with her 18 year old Siamese mix, Potato and a 24 year old Rosy Boa, Baby. In her off time she enjoys relaxing, listening to music, watching TV and movies, gardening, traveling and is a huge Denver Broncos fan!
