When you are a pet parent, you want what’s best for your canine or feline companion.

Your goal (and ours) is to ensure that your furry friend lives a happy, healthy life by your side for as many years as possible. One of the best ways to keep your pet healthy and safe is by keeping them up-to-date on his or her vaccinations.

Vaccines protect companion animals against a variety of diseases, many of which are potentially deadly. Pet vaccines are highly effective, safe, and very unlikely to cause any serious side effects. If you are interested in learning more about how vaccines work, we’re here to help educate pet owners about the benefits of disease prevention as well as the very real dangers of these illnesses. We also offer vaccine titres as an alternative for adult animals that previously have been vaccinated. At Jamacha Pet Vets, we provide affordable and effective vaccinations for cats and dogs in El Cajon, Lakeside, and the surrounding areas.

Vaccines for
Dogs and Puppies

Typically, puppies are started on a vaccine schedule when they are around 8 weeks old. The vaccines help prevent diseases that are caused by several viruses and bacteria. (Rabies, parainfluenza, hepatitis, distemper, and parvovirus, leptospirosis, kennel cough and canine influenza.) We also have a rattlesnake vaccine, which we are happy to educate you about.

Vaccines for
Cat and Kitten

Like puppies, kittens are usually vaccinated starting when they are around 8 weeks old. We generally recommend rabies and FVRCP vaccines (herpesvirus, calicivirus, panleukopenia) for all indoor cats. Indoor/outdoor cats should be vaccinated for feline leukemia virus as well.
